Gordon Douglas McVeen
In Loving Memory
Celebrating the life of Doug—a life well lived. At 88 years young, Doug leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, kindness, generosity, quick wit, a wonderfully dry sense of humour, deep devotion to his family, and a few unforgettable dance moves!
In 1958, Doug married his childhood sweetheart and best friend, Carol, while stationed with the Air Force in Saskatoon. Together, they built a life grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to family. A devoted husband and loving father, Doug cherished his children, Kelly, Steven, and Susan, who predeceased him. He was a supportive father-in-law and friend to Sean, a proud grandfather to Michael, Vanessa, and Tara, and a loving great-grandfather to Talan, Orion, and Theren.
Doug embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in many passions. Whether he was piloting one of his beloved airplanes, golfing with his firefighter buddies, boating, tending to his garden, or spending time at the cottage with those he loved. Beyond his deep love for Carol, Doug’s greatest passion was flying. It gave him a sense of freedom unlike anything else. We take comfort in imagining him now, high above the clouds, at peace and forever flying free.
Forever loved. Forever missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that memorial donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or Diabetes Canada in Doug’s memory.
